In alignment with The Bloc's mission, their work positively impacts the community and the lives of the people who live in Nebraska. We are grateful for the time and dedication these distinguished leaders are investing in helping us celebrate the achievements and contributions of the 50 OVER 50 NE Awards nominees.

Erin Albers
Vice President of Brand Strategy
Heritage Communities
As Vice President of Brand Strategy, Erin oversees the comprehensive brand strategies of Heritage Communities and their affiliates. With 20 years of experience in the home care industry, Erin brings her passion for aging adults to the table and specializes in visual identity, tone of voice, and brand personality. Erin also highlights the Heritage brand as the employer of choice for associates, ensuring they are just as valued as Heritage residents.
Erin attended Creighton University for an undergraduate degree and received a certificate of Corporate Social Responsibility from CU Boulder. She is a member of the Leadership Omaha Class of 38 and is recognized as a 40 Under 40 professional.
Outside of work, Erin loves traveling with her husband, Steve, and kids, Luke and Piper. She also loves walking her dogs, Bella and Hazel, around the lake.

Todd Stubendieck
State Director
AARP Nebraska
Todd Stubbendieck is the Nebraska State Director for AARP, based in Lincoln, Nebraska. In this role, he leads strategic advocacy and member engagement for Americans aged 50 and over. Prior to joining AARP, Todd served as the first Chief Operating Officer at the Douglas County Health Center, drawing on his deep background in federal legislative affairs—including his work with USAID and as Legislative Director to U.S. Senators Tim Johnson and Bob Kerrey. He earned his BA from Bradley University and an MA from the University of South Carolina.

Sandy L. Spady

Sandy Spady embodies dynamism and influence as a public speaker dedicated to sparking positive change and individual empowerment. With an extensive background as a change maker, entrepreneur, thought leader, and visionary, Sandy masterfully connects with audiences, leaving an indelible impact. Her profound understanding of conquering fear and embracing unique talents fuels Sandy’s passion for guiding individuals toward unlocking their true potential. She provides a clear vision through her guidance, nurturing dreams and passions into reality.
Within Omaha’s vibrant business landscape, Sandy is a prominent figure, leveraging her extensive network to coach and collaborate with professionals. With over 35 years of multifaceted experience spanning sales, team building, media television, print and radio sales, PR, and nonprofit ventures, Sandy is the astute Founder and CEO of Power Up Leadership Coaching and Consulting.
Her visionary leadership has also birthed Women with Voices, a powerful networking group empowering women to share stories and triumphs. Sandy’s remarkable contributions haven’t gone unnoticed. She has been honored with prestigious awards like the 50/50 Award in 2021 and the esteemed Phenomenal Woman Inspiration Award in 2023. Her expertise and influence have been
showcased in eminent publications, including. Strictly Business Magazine, Sister Speaker Spotlight Feature, and The Daily Record, Midlands Business Journal,Authority Magazine and KETV Sunday Spotlight.
Sandy’s entrepreneurial spirit manifests in the form of the talk show Power Up KPAO. Through this platform, she brings together community leaders and inspirational individuals, amplifying their impact and fostering a culture of empowerment and change.

Anthony (Tony) Gould

Anthony “Tony” Gould is a dynamic leader, entrepreneur, and mental health advocate with over 20 years of experience across healthcare, IT, software development, payment processing, and the nonprofit sector. He is the CEO of AJG Consulting Group and Owner of Voices Media, where he blends business strategy with a mission to empower voices and promote healing through storytelling.
Tony has held senior roles with major organizations including BMO U.S., WoodmenLife, Mayo Clinic, and Cardinal Health, specializing in project management, product delivery, and organizational transformation. He is PMP, CBAP, and Product Management certified, with a business degree from Eastern New Mexico University.
A TED Talk speaker, coach, and host of the Voices Podcast, Tony is recognized for his authentic leadership, commitment to mental health, and his ability to inspire growth in individuals and organizations alike.

Maria Vazquez
Principal of International Business

Maria Vazquez is a dedicated community leader and seasoned international business professional with over 35 years of experience. As Principal of International Business at Lozier Corporation, Maria has played a key role in expanding the company’s global reach, fostering partnerships, and delivering innovative solutions tailored to diverse international markets.
Beyond her corporate success, Maria is a passionate advocate for the Hispanic community. Drawing from her rich cultural roots, she has spent over a decade empowering others through cultural events, educational workshops, and collaboration with local governments to promote policies that address community needs.
Maria believes deeply in unity, resilience, and preserving cultural heritage while paving the way for future generations. A devoted mother and grandmother, she values family, travel, and using her expertise to positively impact both her organization and the communities she serves.

Abdul Mackie
Operations Manager

Abdul M. Mackie is a seasoned operations and public service professional with over 20 years of experience across the nonprofit, federal, and corporate sectors. He currently serves as Operations Manager at Tri-Faith Initiative, where he leads strategic planning and day-to-day operations for an organization focused on interfaith collaboration and community engagement.
Previously, Abdul spent 16 years with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, most recently as an Education Liaison Representative, managing education compliance and partnerships across multiple states. His expertise includes program oversight, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance.
Earlier in his career, he held HR and labor relations roles at Ford Motor Company, supporting large-scale operations and workforce development.
Known for his integrity, leadership, and commitment to service, Abdul brings a thoughtful, mission-driven approach to every organization he supports.

Sharlene Mengel
Program Director
Educare of Omaha, Inc
Sharlene Mengel is a dedicated social services leader with extensive experience in early childhood education and community support programs. Currently serving as Program Director at Educare of Omaha, she brings over three decades of expertise in social work and program management. Sharlene has held key leadership roles including Early Head Start Director and Omaha Social Services Director at The Salvation Army, where she focused on improving the lives of vulnerable families through innovative, compassionate programs. With a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Sharlene combines academic knowledge with hands-on experience to drive positive change. Her commitment to nurturing children and empowering families is evident in her collaborative leadership style and passion for community well-being. Sharlene continues to be a strong advocate for education, social justice, and holistic support systems.

Giovanni Jones
Employee Learning and Development Manager
UNMC
Giovanni Jones is the Manager of Employee Training and Development at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where she leads the “Re-Imagining U” professional development program. Since 2017, she has been dedicated to enhancing employee growth through innovative training opportunities. Giovanni’s leadership and commitment earned her the prestigious Gold U Award in 2023, recognizing her as an outstanding contributor to the institution.
Beyond her professional role, Giovanni is actively involved in community service as the secretary for the TeamMates board of the Omaha Public Schools Chapter, mentoring youth and supporting educational initiatives. She is passionate about fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility within her workplace and community. Giovanni’s purposeful approach to leadership blends creativity with a strong sense of responsibility, inspiring others and driving positive change both at work and beyond.
